The contestants were judged on the hoof and then on the hook. They are then cut up into the various cuts at Harris Meats and the rumps are tested for taste at the Amberley Show. Congratulations to Alec Baxter (shown above making his speech) for producing an outstanding lamb and taking the winner's title for the second year in a row. The photo below shows the judges (Peter Verkerk, Glen Hercombe, Chris Timbs, Darren Wright and Jonny Schwass). The full results can be found by clicking on this link. Some of the cuts from the lambs are going to be used in the Waipara Valley's Pinot Noir and Waipara Lamb Dinner which is going to be held on 31 October 2011. This dinner will feature Waipara Valley chefs Shawn McGowan, Sarah Turpin and Kate McMillan as well as chef and Cuisine Magazines "Personality of the Year" Jonny Schwass. If you would like to buy some of the beautiful Waipara lamb, or North Canterbury lamb, contact us at info@harrismeats.co.nz |
